Privacy Policy

This page explains what information Orton Companies collects on ortoncompanies.com, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have — including optional Google Analytics cookies.

Last updated August 22, 2026

1. Scope of this policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Orton Companies (“Orton,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and retains information when you visit ortoncompanies.com, submit our contact form, call or email us, or manage cookie preferences. It applies to the website and to inquiries that start on the website.

It does not cover third-party websites we link to, or information we collect later under a signed construction contract (for example, job-site files, lien documents, or payment records), except where that information first came from the Site.

By using the Site, you acknowledge this policy. Cookie choices are separate: analytics cookies are set only if you accept them. See Cookie Settings.

2. Who we are

Orton Companies is a construction company based in Big Lake, Minnesota. We operate this Site to describe pole barn construction, construction design, car condominiums, residential new construction, and commercial new construction across Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin, and to receive project inquiries.

For privacy questions or requests, Email contact@ortoncompanies.com, call 612-398-1573, or write Orton Companies, Big Lake, MN 55309.

3. Information you give us

We collect information you choose to send. That typically includes:

  • Identity and contact details: name, email address, and phone number
  • Project location: address or area where you want to build
  • Inquiry details: reason for contact and your message
  • Optional project details: whether you own the land, planned build location if you do not yet own land, whether you have construction plans, estimated square footage, and budget or ideal price

If you contact us by phone or email instead of the form, we collect whatever you include in that conversation. We use this information to respond, prepare estimates, schedule follow-up, and, if we work together, perform the project.

We do not ask for Social Security numbers, driver’s license images, or payment-card numbers on the Site. Please do not send them through the contact form.

4. Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting and security providers may receive technical data when your browser requests a page. That can include IP address, date and time, requested URL, referrer, browser type, device type, and general location inferred from IP. We use this to operate the Site, diagnose errors, and protect against abuse.

If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 also records usage data as described in Google Analytics.

5. Cloudflare Turnstile

The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to reduce spam and automated abuse. Turnstile loads only on the contact page. It is a functional, anti-spam control, not an advertising pixel. Cloudflare may process a limited amount of technical information to decide whether a submission looks human. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.

6. Google Analytics

If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-K2F08JC601) to understand how visitors use the Site. Google may set cookies such as _ga and _ga_*. Analytics can include:

  • Pages viewed and how you move through the Site
  • Approximate location (city or region), browser, and device type
  • Referral source and aggregated usage statistics

We configure Analytics with IP anonymization and do not use it for advertising personalization. We deny ad storage, ad user data, and ad personalization in our consent settings. Google processes this data as our analytics provider under Google’s Privacy Policy.

The Google tag is present on every page so the service can run. We use Google Consent Mode: analytics storage, ad storage, ad user data, and ad personalization default to denied. Analytics cookies (such as _ga) are not set until you accept. While consent is denied, Google may receive limited cookieless signals for aggregated modeling; those signals do not use analytics cookies. If you reject, we keep analytics denied and delete any Google Analytics cookies we can reach from this Site. You can change this anytime on Cookie Settings.

7. Cookies and similar storage

We use the following categories:

  • Essential. Needed for the Site to work. This includes remembering your cookie choice in browser storage (key: orton_cookie_consent) and Cloudflare Turnstile on the contact form. These do not require extra consent.
  • Analytics (optional). Google Analytics cookies, only if you accept them. They measure traffic and how pages are used. They are not used to sell your information or to run ads on this Site. Until you accept, the Google tag stays in a denied-consent state and does not set those cookies.

A first-visit banner lets you accept or reject analytics cookies. You can review or change that choice later at /cookie-settings/. Your browser can also block or delete cookies; blocking essential storage may affect form or preference features.

We do not currently respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals as a separate control. Use the banner or Cookie Settings instead.

8. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Respond to inquiries and prepare estimates
  • Communicate by email, phone, or text about a potential or active project
  • Operate, secure, and improve the Site
  • Prevent spam, fraud, and abuse
  • Understand aggregate traffic if you accept analytics
  • Comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect people and property

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

9. How we share information

We share information only as needed to run the business and the Site:

  • Service providers. Hosting and infrastructure (Amazon Web Services / AWS Amplify), email delivery (Amazon SES), anti-spam (Cloudflare Turnstile), and, if you consent, analytics (Google). They may process information only to provide their service to us.
  • Project partners. If you hire us, we may share relevant project details with subcontractors, engineers, suppliers, or inspectors as needed to design or build.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, or property.
  • Business transfer. If we sell or reorganize the business, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy or a successor policy.

10. Retention

Contact inquiries are kept as long as needed to respond and to manage a potential or active project, and afterward as long as we have a legitimate business or legal reason (for example, follow-up, dispute, or recordkeeping). We may keep emails and related notes in ordinary business systems.

Cookie-preference storage stays in your browser until you clear it or we change the consent version. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings and Google’s processing terms.

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information, including HTTPS and provider-managed infrastructure. No website or email system is completely secure. Please use the contact form or a direct email for ordinary project questions, not for highly sensitive personal data.

12. Children

The Site is intended for adults considering construction services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Your choices and privacy rights

You can:

  • Decline or later turn off analytics cookies on the Cookie Settings page
  • Ask us not to send marketing messages; we may still contact you about an inquiry or contract
  • Request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions

Depending on where you live — including Minnesota and other U.S. states with consumer privacy laws — you may have additional rights to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, or to appeal a refusal. We will not discriminate against you for exercising those rights.

To make a request, email contact@ortoncompanies.com and tell us what you want us to do. We may need to verify that the request comes from you. If you use an authorized agent, we may require proof of authorization.

Because we do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising, we do not offer a separate “Do Not Sell or Share” opt-out beyond rejecting analytics cookies.

14. Visitors outside the United States

The Site is operated from the United States for customers in the Upper Midwest. If you visit from another country, your information will be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our practices or the Site change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes may also be noted on the Site. The current version is the one posted on this page.

16. Contact and related pages
